Our vacations often need to be scheduled around our children’s vacation time. Because of this, most of us end up facing the tourist rush hour. Travelling and stay come at a premium price. And all for what? When you visit a place of interest, there are hundred other people posing for photos making it difficult to get a good shot. But a Summer Andaman vacation can be a different experience.
We’ve brought together a list of interesting vacation hacks that can come handy not only for your Andaman vacation but elsewhere too!
Andaman vacation ticket booking
Save on your Andaman vacation tickets by booking early
When to book tickets
Kids’ vacation time comes in three waves in India – summer vacation between March and May, Diwali vacation in October – November and Christmas vacation in the last week of December. So how do you make the best of it?
Book mid-week tickets: Most people try to time their vacation dates to match weekends so that they can save on extra leave. Do the reverse so that you get more weekday stays. Weekday travel is also comparatively cheaper than weekend one.
Book very early or book very late: Book right towards the beginning of the vacation or towards the very end. Most people would choose to vacation in between leaving some open dates for you when booking an accommodation may not be too difficult.
If you want to take a vacation in March, book towards the end of the previous year as soon as bookings open. Or if you want to take a chance, book right in the beginning of June. (This may be a bit risky as you may still get charged a lot for airline tickets but on the good side, some accommodation may come cheaper)
How to plan your Andaman package
Most local tour operators provide standard and customized package options. Customize your package according to how you want to spend your vacation. If you love lying by the beach, take an extra day out in Havelock where you can relax and enjoy. If you love adventure sports, then keep a couple of days reserved for snorkeling and scuba diving.
Speak to your tour operator about flexibility in the package and its pricing. For example, you may decide you really don’t want to visit a distant tourist spot that involves half a day’s travel. So eventually, you don’t want to be charged for it.
Don’t keep a cut-to-cut package. Instead plan at least one free day which you can decide how you want to spend when you get there and maybe leave it for last minute souvenir shopping.
How to avoid the holiday rush
Getting the best holiday photos: Most tourist spots at any given point have someone or the other standing in front, clicking photos making it seem impossible to get a clear shot. Here’s what you can do:
Make a request: Do a quick shout out to the people around that you just need a moment. Everyone obliges when it is just a moment. Besides, they want their clear shot too so others may just follow your example.
The early-late rule applies here too: The first ferry on your island hopping trip may leave as early as 8. Get on it to among the first tourist lot to get on the pristine white sand beach for the day. If you are not a morning person, then wait around to be the last one catching the evening rays by when everyone else may just be tired.
The alternative is sometimes just as good: People may be making a beeline to Havelock but Andaman has many other superb white sand beaches that give an equally mesmerizing experience. Ask your Andaman travel expert for options and choose to go there instead.
Go around the corner: A lot of people crowd right in front of a monument to get their best photos. Often, other angles provide the same view and may not be as crowded.
